High efficiency, low EMI, regulated output voltage resonant SMPS capable of delivering 240W for Class AB or Class D amplifiers and up to 320W peak power. Stock +/-55V, Available output voltages are in range of +-32V to +-72V The stock available output voltages are adjustable within approx. 10% and the ordered voltage value is at the middle of the interval. For example the 40V version can be adjusted from 38V to 42V. In this way, the available voltage versions covers most used voltages for class AB amplifiers with power up to 180W and class D amplifiers with output power up to 250W. The SMPS240R includes two auxilliary output voltages, one in range of 15-18V DC, at max. 400mA, unregulated and one regulated voltage of 12V at 200mA. They share the same GND which is isolated from the main output GND and can be tied to V- line to supply bias voltage for Class D amplifier power stages. The main feature of this power supply is the extremely low size, of just 100mm long, 50mm wide and just ~30mm tall, being the most compact >200W power supply available on the market and with a very good price/performance x size ratio. The primary side power transistors are installed on a tiny heatsink for keeping their temperature within normal operating limits and the secondary side diodes are high-current, SMD type installed on the bottom of the board. For operation with audio amplifiers, which have the crest factor of up to 3, the power supply does not require any extra cooling method, but if is used to supply long term continuous power over 120W extra-cooling might be required for the secondary side diodes of lower voltage versions. The easiest way to provide extra-cooling is to use Electrically-isolated, Thermally-conductive rubber placed under the diodes which will be in contact with the device housing. in this way the power supply can provide its full output power continuously for the most demanding loads such as class A amplifiers or LED lighting. The efficiency of the SMPS240R is over 90% for 20-100% load, and the peak efficiency reaches 94.6% for 230V/+-60/ The SMPS240R features over-current protection which limit the output power at about 320W. This power supply is suitable for both class AB and class D/T amplifiers, which have the PSRR greater or at least 54dB. Target applications for this power supply unit include the TA2022 based amplifiers, TDA8920 or TDA8950 based amplifiers and IRS2092 amplifiers such as CxD300 modules as well as other vendors amplifiers such as Hypex UCD180 Amplifier modules, TK2050 amplifiers or TDA7293/4 amplifiers. Currently, due to complexity of the module, only the 230V mains voltage version is available, and the 120V mains voltage version will be available at a later time or on request as OEM product.
